Berry Shortbread

Ingredients:

  • 1 cups dehydrated mixed berries
  • 1/8 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 cup trail cake

Directions:

  1. Pack berries in a small plastic bag.
  2. Enclose in a larger plastic bag with trail cake.

Yield: Serves 1

Rehydrate:

  1. Combine berries with 1 cup water in a pot.
  2. Light stove and warm for 10 minutes over low flame. The mission is to warm and rehydrate the berries and create some tasty berry juices, not to boil the red out of them.
  3. Cover berries with cake.
  4. Push the cake into the berry juices but don’t stir.
  5. Let rest 10 minutes. (while eating)

Freezer bag cooking:

  1. Combine the berries with 1 cup hot water.
  2. Let sit for 15-20 minutes.
  3. Cover berries with cake.
  4. Push the cake into the berry juices but don’t stir.
  5. Let rest 10 minutes.
