Inspiration: LIVE-out

Why? you ask would anyone want to live out of a small boat for four months – no mattress, plumbing (running water, shower, toilet), microwave, air conditioning, electricity, comfy sofa, TV, radio. All comforts of home left behind. Why? is a very valid question. We sometimes ask ourselves the same thing.

Then we remember why?…. Life is too short to sit on the banks watching the water go by, wondering… wondering where the water flows, wondering what can be seen on the banks downstream, wondering who we could meet at the edge of the water, wondering…. Sitting is safe, but all these questions will never be answered, and we stay in a state of wondering, while sitting in silence, so…. We decided to LIVEout-loud.

Then we remember why?…. Life is too short to exist inside four walls. We work there, eat there, sleep there, groom there, socialize there, attend church there, work there, everything there…. We want to change where we live our lives, even if it is only for four months. The opposite of inside is outside, so…. We decided to LIVEout-side.

Then we remember why?…. Life is too short to be predictable. Living by a schedule dictated by a society that at some point determined – work 40 (plus sometimes) hours for someone else, take care of all the STUFF you own, sleep eight hours (does anyone really accomplish this?), is all that should be. We want to break society’s schedule and create our own, knowing that most of society will think we are crazy, so… We decided to LIVEout-rageous.

Why? you ask did we decide to take this particular trip to LIVEout-loud, -side, -rageous.

Hmmm. A few possible additional answers….
Romans 12:2
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what “God’s” will is- his good, pleasing and perfect will.” A stretch? You decide.

Ms. Janet Mooreland
While at the Quiet Water Symposium (a frequent spring pilgrimage to Michigan State University) we met Ms. Mooreland and immediately saw how her “loveyourbigmuddy” adventure mirrored a potential trip- soon to be a reality, which we had previously only talked about.

Other?
Maybe that will be answered on the trip.

Make sure you get ahold of the group, its members and moderators at Facebook— Mississippi River Paddlers, and Lower Mississippi River Paddlers……. about 50 member in those groups that have done about 70% of your route…. ie. more info there than anywhere else on the net. Good luck and have fun. Plenty of river-angels along the way to help out with water, food, resupply and a hot shower.
