Support the Charity

UPDATE!: Through prayer and petition we have received and reviewed nominations for a charity to support. We are pleased to announce that a charity has been selected. View and support at Donate ( to the charity).

John 14:12 says ; “The person who trusts me will not only do what I’m doing but even greater things, because I, on my way to the Father, am giving you the same work to do…”

Ok, so it’s from the Bible. Ok, so it sounds cool and “wise”. So what? What does this have to do with LaNae and me and what in the world could it possibly have to do with a silly (some say crazy), kayak trip?

Frankly I’m not sure. What I am sure of is that this life is very temporary and while we are here our lives are suppose to reflect Christ; i.e. be His hands and feet while we’re here. Hmm. If this trip is part of our life then how can we; should we; MUST we be sure that it serves that purpose? HE>I (stole that from the ShakaShack…thanks Matt.)

So in order for us to find/create that purpose, we are taking nominations for a #charity that could possibly exploit/benefit from our trip. Please be encouraged to reply to this post with a suggested #charity and their contact information. Cool!

I’m tempted to suggest a number of “ministries” but it seems it might a stretch to connect many of them with a paddle down the Mississippi River. Perhaps a group like http://www.americanrivers.org would be a good fit. Working to restore rivers is not outside the realm of kingdom ministry – Colossians 1:19,20

19 For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.

If you were looking for something with more of a Christian “face” but related to creation care, the Evangelical Environmental Network http://www.creationcare.org is a great organization. They are probably the best known and most effective voice for Evangelicals on issues related to creation care.
